GREENCORE TO SELL FACTORY AHEAD OF BAKKAVOR MERGER

Greencore to Sell Bristol Sauce Factory Ahead of Bakkavor Deal

Greencore Group has revealed plans to sell its Bristol-based chilled sauces and soups factory as it moves closer to completing its proposed acquisition of Bakkavor. The sale is aimed at addressing competition concerns and clearing the way for the merger to proceed smoothly.

The Bristol site, the company’s only UK facility dedicated to chilled sauces and soups, will be sold to a new owner while maintaining continuity for staff and customers. Greencore is actively seeking a buyer, with interest already reported from potential acquirers.

Chief executive Dalton Philips described the move as a crucial step in the transaction. “Our priority is finding the right owner for the Bristol business,” he said. “This is a significant milestone that brings the merger closer to completion.”

Bakkavor’s chief executive, Mike Edwards, welcomed the development, calling the regulatory progress “fantastic news.” Both companies are now working together to ensure a smooth transition once the deal concludes.

The merger, first announced earlier this year, would create a major force in the UK convenience-foods sector, supplying many of the country’s leading supermarket chains. Final completion is subject to regulatory approval and the necessary takeover procedures, with both companies targeting early 2026.

With the sale underway, Greencore and Bakkavor are preparing for integration, aiming to deliver increased scale, improved supply-chain efficiency, and better service for retail customers across the UK.
