STORY: National Doughnut Week 2020 is cancelled

It is with much sadness that the founder and organisers (Christopher Freeman, The Children’s Trust and CSM Bakery Solutions) of National Doughnut Week 2020 have announced that due to the current COVID-19 situation National Doughnut Week, 9th – 16th May 2020, has been cancelled. A date for 2021 will be announced later in the year.

Commenting on the decision Christopher Freeman, founder of National Doughnut Week, said: “We have taken the disappointing decision to cancel NDW 2020. We will of course feedback directly to everyone that has already signed up and we will announce the 2021 dates as soon as we can. We thank all our supporters and hope their businesses are finding ways to navigate their way through this difficult time.”

Katie Roberts, Head of Voluntary Fundraising, added: "It's very sad that National Doughnut Week has been cancelled but we understand that it's the right thing to do in current circumstances. The Children's Trust faces one of its toughest challenges in its 36-year history. Due to the cancellation of many of our fundraising events, and the closure of our charity shops, we're set to lose hundreds of thousands of pounds in the next few months alone.

To keep vital services running we need to raise £7 million a year and we've launched a special appeal to try and recoup the loss so that we can continue to support vulnerable children and families from across the country."
