STORY: Central Foods unveils new strawberry and prosecco roulade

Frozen food distributor Central Foods has unveiled a new meringue roulade aimed at summer menus.

Featuring a classic British combination of strawberries and cream, the hand-rolled roulade is made of pink strawberry flavoured meringue, which is filled with fresh whipped dairy cream flavoured with real Prosecco, and a home-made strawberry compôte.

The Menuserve Strawberry and Prosecco Meringue Roulade is finished with a velvety dusting of dried raspberry pieces to create a dessert that’s suitable for vegetarians and gluten-free customers.

“Our range of Menuserve meringue roulades is very popular with our food service customers and I am excited that we are launching a traditional British flavour combination with our new Strawberry and Prosecco Roulade," says Gordon Lauder, MD of Central Foods.

“The launch has come just in time for food service operators to add the new roulade to summer menus to take advantage of the Queen’s platinum jubilee celebrations and other special events over the summer months, such as Wimbledon and the Henley Regatta.

“This is also good news for operators who have one eye on their Christmas menus, as we feel sure that the Menuserve Strawberry and Prosecco Roulade’s festive red topping will also make it a Yuletide favourite.”

The new flavour joins a range of meringue roulades offered by Central Foods to food service operators, including Black Forest, Banoffee, Cappuccino, Raspberry & Hazelnut, Raspberry & White Chocolate, and Lemon.

Each pack of the ‘thaw and serve’ Menuserve Strawberry and Prosecco Roulade contains two roulades, with a recommended ten portions per roulade.
