ABST - PRESIDENT'S UPDATE

ABST.ORG.UK

Jacqui Passmore, this year’s ABST President looks at the latest activity that has been taking place during the organisation’s centenary year and looks forward to the exciting conference in June only a few weeks away! For more information visit www.abst.org.uk

It’s been a busy few months, with the competition season in full swing. The ABST Burger competition took place at UCB on 15th February, sponsored by Guenther Bakeries. There were some wonderful creative ideas on show and the winner will be announced at the June conference. My special thanks go to Guenther Bakeries Ltd who kindly sponsored this competition.

“As the ABST celebrates its 100th birthday, we are all very much looking forward to this year’s annual conference 13-15 June at the Alton Towers Conference Centre. The theme on Friday evening this year will be Pirates and Treasure Island after a vote from members. The annual conference is a excellent opportunity to network as well as finding out more about the various bakery businesses with a presence at the event. We also have lots of fun with the themed party on the Friday night followed by a swish 20s style black-tie dinner and awards presentation on the Saturday evening.

This year’s looks like it is going to be even more fabulous –  but do check the ABST website www.abst.org.uk to book tickets and hotels for the conference and nearer the time for the weekend’s agenda and the seating plan for Saturday night’s awards dinner.

I am truly grateful to all the great companies who support the conference and to the new supporters who have come on board this year – Scottish Bakers,  Irca Group, ADM Milling Ltd, Country Style Foods, Rainbow Dust, ITS, Ingram Bros, Marriages Flour and DW Baking.

Here’s to a fantastic last few months of the 2025 academic year for all ABST members and supporting organisations. See you in June!

Best wishes

Jacqui Passmore – ABST President
