Scotland’s finest bakers are gearing up for the spotlight as the shortlist for the 2026 Scottish Baker of the Year Awards has been unveiled. More than 60 bakeries from across the country are in contention, competing across a range of categories including bread, biscuits, doughnuts, and celebration cakes.

A panel of over 50 industry experts reviewed more than 500 products, evaluating craftsmanship, creativity, and quality. The entries showcase a mix of family-run bakeries, independent artisan producers, and innovative newcomers, reflecting the vibrant diversity of Scotland’s baking scene.

Among the bakeries in the running are well-known names such as Ashers Bakery, Mimi’s Bakehouse, McGhee’s Family Bakers, Stephens Bakery, and Murrays the Bakers. Each has impressed judges with exceptional products and dedication to their craft.

The winners, including the coveted overall Scottish Baker of the Year, will be announced at a ceremony in Glasgow on 16 May 2026. Industry insiders are eagerly awaiting the results, which promise to highlight the creativity and skill thriving within Scotland’s bakery sector.
