STORY: Bakers among UK's most in-demand skilled workers

Bakers are among the most in-demand skilled trade workers across the UK, according to a new UK Trade Index created by Bionic.

The Bionic trade index looked at 10 of the highest populated cities in the UK outside of London, to find the trade jobs available and the average salary per trade in each city.

The index reveals Nottingham as the city the most lucrative opportunities for aspiring bakers with the highest average annual salary for bakers reaching £25,773.

Sheffield comes in second place, with an average annual salary of £22,459, and Leeds rounds off the top three with an average salary of £21,480 for bakers.

Birmingham is the best city in the UK with the most available jobs for Bakers. There are 46 available jobs in Birmingham, 42 in Manchester, and 41 in Leeds.

The increase in demand for bakers could be attributed to Brits getting back to their daily routines and returning to the workplace, meaning more people are visiting bakers for breakfast and afternoon snacks.

London was omitted from the index to avoid skewing the results because of the sheer size and density of the capital’s population.
