This 2024 harvest already provided us some key information:

Globally:

Global wheat production is rising everywhere, except in Europe. Global wheat consumption is also rising.

This year, the global carryover stock is 256.62 Mto, versus 260 Mto last year. This is the lowest since 2015-2016.

In Europe:

Europe suffered a very sharp deterioration in production, with wheat acreage down (poor sowing conditions), and toomuch rainfall throughout the growing season. Yields were therefore negatively impacted: 130 Mto vs 134 last year.

In France:

France has been the hardest hit by unfavorable weather conditions. Rain during harvest delayed work: yields weredown sharply in some regions, by as much as 20%. However, the milling quality of wheat seems to be preserved.

Market perspectives:

Production:

798(1) Mto globally (+1.1% vs 2023-2024)
26(2) Mto in France (-25% vs 2023-2024) Export wheat tonnageforecasts 2024-2025: 34(1) Mto in Europe
