STORY: Harry Gow raises £1.2k for Help for Heroes

Inverness bakery Harry Gow has raised £1,200 to help injured veterans, through the Help for Heroes charity.

The 5th generation family bakers, which has 19 sites across the region, sold cupcakes through the Bake for Heroes campaign during Armed Forces Week, to raise funds for the cause. All of the takings from the cupcakes went to Help for Heroes.

Sara McIntosh, production manager and director at Harry Gow, said: “The whole team got to support such a great cause, from confectioners to our store staff – which felt very rewarding for us all.

“It’s even more rewarding as the whole of the UK can benefit from the fundraising for this campaign; which is something a little different for us as the majority of our support goes back into the local community.

“We’re extremely thankful to our customers for choosing to purchase our cupcakes during the campaign and helping us to raise such a fantastic total.”

David Martin, head of supporter fundraising at Help for Heroes, said: “We are really grateful to Harry Gow bakery for supporting our Bake for Heroes initiative and raising such an incredible amount.

Every penny raised will provide vital support to our nation’s wounded heroes, including the 800 veterans we support in Scotland through our fellowship network and recovery programmes.”
