STORY: Make It a Christmas worth celebrating

The trends for Christmas 2022 fit perfectly with people looking for traditional Christmas products. From Bundt cake to mince pies to mini Christmas cake squares, the focus for Christmas 2022 will very much be on traditional Christmas products, and for some, with an up to date twist. Appealing to all age groups is important and this can be achieved through additions and decoration which is a key component in any Christmas range. Another easy way to do this is by introducing seasonal indulgent cookies made from Craigmillar Plain and Chocolate Cookie mixes which can be baked and frozen then defrosted and decorated with seasonal themes such as mini Santa, snowmen and reindeers as the busy season progresses or used to create stuffed cookies.

In terms of colour trends for 2022 the traditional gold, red, white and green will be prevalent with a nod to nature so decorated with real holly and eucalyptus and flavoured with seasonal spices. Cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, chocolate, orange, sticky toffee and clementine will be featured as well as seasonal dried fruits included in Christmas cakes and used as decorations. The trend of appealing to multiple senses will still be key with products including Chocolate Orange Bundt cake that looks fabulous and tastes divine, stuffed cookies with a festive twist in terms of seasonal flavours and Christmas cakes full of fruit and nuts and decorated with beautiful festive colourways.

Novelty children’s products are always popular and will continue to be so this year.  Gingerbread biscuits and shortbread decorated with seasonal reindeers, snowmen and elves should form part of ranges.  They can be sold as packs or separately and suitable for Christmas gifts and parties and teacher gifts.
