Bridor's new sweet treat is inspired by Brittany

French bakery Bridor has launched Breizh’n’Roll, a sweet treat inspired by the recipe for kouign amman, the traditional breton cake.

Breizh’n’Roll’s USP is its flaky dough made with 100% pure butter Viennese pastry with a caramelised flavour.

Supplied frozen, the Breizh’n’Roll requires defrosting for up to 45 minutes in its paper mould, before oven baking at 180-185°C for 18-19 minutes.

They should be turned over in their mould for a minimum of five minutes to achieve a golden brown hue, before being ready to serve after 15 minutes of cooling.

The product is packaged in units of 60 pieces per box and 96 boxes per pallet with a shelf life of nine months.

In Brittany, ‘kouign’ means ‘soft bread’ and ‘amman’ translates as ‘butter’.

The original recipe dates back to 1860 when the pastry was invented by accident, when sugar was mistakenly added to bread dough with butter.
