STORY: Addo races 'round the moon' for charity

Addo Food Group has shown its support for Julia’s House, the Dorset and Wiltshire Children’s Hospice, by travelling the distance of the moon.

Eighteen employees from its Dorset Foods site and Poole bakery walked, ran and cycled the circumference of the moon, managing to raise a total of £1,730 for the charity. The challenge saw the team completing more than 2,700km past its target of the 109,18km circumference.

Deborah Bolton, CEO of Addo Food Group, said: “We’re delighted to have raised such a fantastic amount for this worthy cause and we are really proud of the team for getting involved in the challenge. This donation expands on the long-standing relationship that our Poole Bakery site have had with Julia’s House.

“I’d like to thank all the team for their hard work and dedication to this challenge, especially during these tough winter months, as well as everyone who has supported us and made a contribution to this worthwhile cause.”

Julia’s House is not a typical children’s hospice, the charity provides practical and emotional support for families caring for a child with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition, providing frequent and regular support in their own homes, in the community or at its hospices.
