RBC's sourdough re-starter

This September, the Real Bread Campaign will focus on encouraging people who started buying sourdough from local indie bakeries, or got the bready baking bug*, during the pandemic to keep doing so. Bakers in our network will also be helping people who’ve not maintained momentum to re-start their starters.
The Real Bread Campaign created Sourdough September in 2013 to be the annual international celebration of genuine sourdough bread and the people who make it. The main aims of Sourdough September are increasing the number of people who:
· Buy genuine sourdough from neighbourhood bakeries.
· Make their own sourdough bread.
· Support the charity’s work.
Grab a slice of the action
Everyone is welcome to join the fun. Real Bread business owners within and beyond the Campaign’s network who make (or teach people to bake) genuine sourdough are invited to add details of their classes, starter giveaways and more to the calendar on the Campaign’s website.
Whether baking or buying genuine sourdough, people are also encouraged to post their exploits. In 2020 people from nearly 60 countries shared more than 5700 #SourdoughSeptember posts on Instagram alone.

As usual, Balcony Shirts will be selling an exclusive, limited-edition design t-shirt, apron and mug during September, making a doughnation towards our charity’s work for each one sold. Other Real Bread gifts are available all year round.
People can find full details of Sourdough September, information about sourdough and sourfaux, places to buy genuine sourdough and other Real Bread, recipes, updates about our work and how to join the Real Bread Campaign.
