GAIL'S PLANS FOR 2025 EXPANSION

Premium bakery chain, Gail’s Bakery has ambitious plans for expansion in 2025.
The company aims to open between 30 and 40 new stores across the UK, increasing its footprint from the current approximately 150 locations. This growth aligns with the company’s strategy to capitalise on opportunities in town centres where vacant retail spaces have become more accessible. These spaces, often former bank branches, are being repurposed into bakery outlets, making them attractive additions to local communities.
The expansion is part of Gail's broader goal to achieve £300 million in sales in 2025, despite challenges such as rising operational costs from increased wages and reduced business rates relief. Gail’s CEO, Tom Molnar, has expressed commitment to minimising price hikes while ensuring the quality of the bakery's offerings remains uncompromised.
The company has also been preparing for a potential sale, with reports indicating that its parent company, Bread Holdings, might be valued at up to £500 million. This could attract interest from major hospitality investors seeking to capitalise on the growing popularity of branded coffee shops and bakeries.
